A kitchen remodel in Portland, OR in 2026 typically costs $45,000 to $85,000 for a standard update and $100,000 to $175,000 for a full remodel, based on figures published by Portland remodeling firms Creekstone Design + Remodel and Mountainwood Homes. National data runs lower: HomeAdvisor reports a $26,946 average and a typical range of $14,588 to $41,551, at $75 to $250 per square foot. The spread comes down to scope. Pinnacle NW quotes every kitchen as a written fixed price after walking the space, so the number you plan around is the number you pay. Oregon CCB #258040.

  • How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Portland, Oregon? Published 2026 figures from Portland remodelers put standard kitchen updates at roughly $45,000 to $85,000 and full remodels at $100,000 to $175,000, with custom projects running higher (Creekstone Design + Remodel; Mountainwood Homes).
  • What does a Portland kitchen remodel cost per square foot? HomeAdvisor's 2026 published figure is $75 to $250 per square foot for kitchen remodeling nationally.

  • Does a fixed-price Portland kitchen remodel cost more than time-and-materials? A fixed price is not a premium, it is a different allocation of risk. With time-and-materials, you carry the overrun risk.

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Portland in 2026?

Portland remodeling firms publish their own price tiers, and they are the most honest starting point because they reflect what full-service projects actually close at in this market. Creekstone Design + Remodel puts standard kitchen updates at $45,000 to $85,000, reports an average project range of $75,000 to $150,000, and notes that custom large-scale renovations can exceed $190,000. Mountainwood Homes tiers its work at $50,000 to $100,000 for a refresh, $100,000 to $175,000 for a full remodel, $150,000 to $300,000 and up for custom transformations with structural work, and $300,000 to $500,000 and up for a kitchen addition.

ScopeCreekstone Design + RemodelMountainwood Homes
Refresh / standard update$45,000–$85,000$50,000–$100,000
Full remodel$75,000–$150,000 (average project)$100,000–$175,000
Custom / structuralCan exceed $190,000$150,000–$300,000+
Kitchen additionNot published$300,000–$500,000+

Those are design-build numbers, meaning design, permits, project management, and construction under one roof. Smaller-scope work with a general contractor lands lower, which is where the national data becomes useful for calibration.

How does Portland compare to national kitchen remodel averages?

HomeAdvisor's 2026 national data reports an average kitchen remodel at $26,946, a typical range of $14,588 to $41,551, and a rate of $75 to $250 per square foot. By size, their published brackets run from $5,600 to $17,500 for a 75 square foot kitchen up to $15,000 to $50,000 for a 200 square foot kitchen.

Kitchen sizePublished range
75 sq ft$5,600–$17,500
100 sq ft$7,500–$25,000
150 sq ft$11,250–$37,500
200 sq ft$15,000–$50,000

Why the gap between national averages and Portland tiers? The national pool includes every scope from a weekend-adjacent refresh to a gut renovation, which pulls the average down. Full-service Portland projects sit at the deeper end of that pool: this metro's older housing stock frequently needs electrical and plumbing corrections once walls open up, permits and code compliance add real line items, and most homeowners hiring a design-build firm are changing more than surfaces. Neither set of numbers is wrong. They describe different projects, and your quote should tell you clearly which project it describes.

What actually drives the price of a Portland kitchen remodel?

Cabinetry leads. Creekstone calls it the single largest line item on most projects, and our experience matches: box construction, storage layout, and hardware quality set both the budget and how the kitchen feels to use for the next fifteen years. Countertop material and fabrication come next, then appliances, which can swing tens of thousands depending on whether you are replacing like-for-like or stepping up to professional-grade equipment.

The stealth drivers are the ones behind the walls. Moving plumbing, gas, or electrical service costs real money and is priced by the complexity of the move, not the size of the room. Portland homes from the early and mid twentieth century often carry undersized circuits or aging supply lines that are cheapest to correct while the room is already open. A quote that ignores that possibility is not cheaper, it is just quieter about when you will pay. Our written scope addresses known conditions up front and prices any genuinely unforeseen work openly with you before it proceeds, which is the core of how our Portland kitchen remodeling service is built.

How does Pinnacle NW price a kitchen remodel?

We do not price from a chart, including the ones on this page. We walk your kitchen, talk through how you use it, and put a written scope in front of you with a fixed price for that scope before demolition starts. The published tiers above are useful for orientation, and that is all they are. Two 150 square foot Portland kitchens can land $60,000 apart on the honest merits of their scope, cabinetry, and what is hiding behind the plaster.

The fixed price changes who carries the risk. With a time-and-materials arrangement, an overrun becomes your invoice. With our contract, the number for the approved scope is committed in writing, daily photo updates show you exactly where the project stands, and the work is backed by a 3-year workmanship warranty. If you change the scope mid-project, we price the change and get your sign-off first. Budget planning also gets easier with remodel financing, which is available on Pinnacle NW projects.

How do I keep my kitchen remodel on budget?

Keep the footprint if you can. Plumbing and gas staying put is the single biggest lever on price. Decide appliances early, because their dimensions drive cabinetry and their spec drives electrical. Spend on the things you touch daily, cabinets and counters, before the things you admire occasionally. And insist on a written scope from whoever you hire, because the most expensive kitchen remodel in Portland is the one that gets re-quoted halfway through.

When you are comparing your options, our remodeling FAQ covers how the fixed-price process works step by step, and the Pinnacle Promise page lists the commitments that go into every contract. If you are weighing a bathroom at the same time, the same fixed-price structure applies to our Portland bathroom remodeling work.

Materials

Materials we work in on a kitchen

Countertops go in quartz, granite, marble, butcher block, laminate, or tile, depending on how hard the kitchen gets used and what you want to spend. We install them cleanly and check that the seams, the grout lines and the overhangs line up before we call that part done.

On cabinets we fit new boxes, new doors, or a full replacement, and we work with your supplier or ours. Backsplash work runs from subway tile upward. New island circuits, under-cabinet lighting and relocated sink lines are handled inside the same contract, so you are not hiring a separate sub for every piece.

Questions

Portland kitchen remodel cost FAQs

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Portland, Oregon?

Published 2026 figures from Portland remodelers put standard kitchen updates at roughly $45,000 to $85,000 and full remodels at $100,000 to $175,000, with custom projects running higher (Creekstone Design + Remodel; Mountainwood Homes). National data is lower: HomeAdvisor reports a $26,946 average with a typical range of $14,588 to $41,551, because the national pool includes small refresh projects. Your real number depends on scope, and a written fixed-price estimate is the only figure worth planning around.

What does a Portland kitchen remodel cost per square foot?

HomeAdvisor's 2026 published figure is $75 to $250 per square foot for kitchen remodeling nationally. On that scale a 150 square foot kitchen lands between $11,250 and $37,500. Full-service Portland design-build projects frequently price above that band once layout changes, permits, and custom cabinetry enter the scope.

Why do Portland kitchen remodel quotes vary so much?

Because quotes describe different things. Some cover a cosmetic refresh, others a gut renovation with plumbing and electrical moves, and some omit line items that surface later as change orders. Compare quotes by their written scope, not their bottom line. A fixed-price contract states exactly what is included before demolition begins, which is how we quote every Pinnacle NW kitchen.

Does a fixed-price Portland kitchen remodel cost more than time-and-materials?

A fixed price is not a premium, it is a different allocation of risk. With time-and-materials, you carry the overrun risk. With a written fixed price, the contractor commits to a number for the agreed scope before work starts, so surprises in that scope are our responsibility rather than a new invoice. Scope changes you request are priced and approved in writing before we proceed.

Is financing available for a Portland kitchen remodel?

Yes, financing is available on Pinnacle NW projects. See our financing page or ask during your estimate and we will walk through the options alongside your written, fixed-price scope.

Our Service Radius

Where we work from, and how far that reaches

Our shop is on SE Blanton Street in the Oak Grove area of Clackamas County, on Oregon 99E, the road most people here call McLoughlin Boulevard. Wikipedia puts that stretch about eight miles north of downtown Portland and about four miles south of Oregon City, and those two directions are most of our week.

South and east on 99E and I-205 covers Gladstone, Oregon City, West Linn and Happy Valley, with Oregon 224 running out to Clackamas where it becomes the Sunrise Expressway. North on 99E puts us in Portland where it becomes the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Grand Avenue couplet. West over I-205 and I-5 reaches Lake Oswego on Oregon 43, then Tualatin where I-5 and I-205 meet, and up Oregon 217 to Tigard and Beaverton at the U.S. 26 interchange. U.S. 26 carries us out to Cedar Mill and Bethany. Across the Columbia we take either the Interstate Bridge on I-5 or the Glenn L. Jackson Memorial Bridge on I-205 into Clark County.

We come to you for the estimate anywhere in that radius. If your town is not on our service area page, call and ask, because the list is shorter than the map.
