Pinnacle NW Bath Remodel is a fixed-price remodeling contractor serving Portland, Oregon and the surrounding metro, and we build decks and outdoor structures alongside our interior work. We construct decks and outdoor living spaces on a written contract, built for the Pacific Northwest climate, with daily photo updates and a 3-year workmanship warranty, so you know the price and the plan before the first board goes down. Oregon CCB #258040. Licensed, bonded, and insured.
- Is my Portland deck build really a fixed price? Yes. The price for your agreed scope is set in writing before work begins, so you are not exposed to surprise change orders for the work you signed off on.
- Are you licensed and insured to build decks in Oregon? Yes. Pinnacle NW LLC holds Oregon CCB #258040 and is bonded and insured.
- How long does a Portland deck project take? Timelines depend on the scope, from a focused deck replacement to a larger outdoor living space with railings, stairs, and built-in features.
- Can you build a deck that stands up to Portland weather? Yes. We plan every deck for the Pacific Northwest climate, choosing durable surfaces, quality hardware, and careful detailing so the structure sheds water and holds up through wet winters.
How does fixed-price deck building work in Portland?
Fixed-price deck building means the number for your agreed scope is written into the contract before any work starts, so the plan and the price are settled up front instead of drifting week to week. Most Portland homeowners we meet are not afraid of the deck itself. They are afraid of the part that comes after they sign, when the timeline slips, the crew changes, and the running total keeps climbing with change orders nobody explained. We built Pinnacle NW to remove that fear. Before work begins, you receive a written scope that lists exactly what is included, the materials selected, and a schedule you can hold us to. When you approve it, that scope is what we build. If you decide to add or change something during the project, we price the change clearly and get your sign-off before we proceed. You never come home to a surprise line item for work you did not authorize.
That structure matters for outdoor work because a deck lives outdoors in the Pacific Northwest, where wet winters and long damp seasons are hard on anything built without care. A written, fixed-price plan forces the material and detail decisions to the front of the project, where they belong, so you are choosing how your deck stands up to Portland weather before the work is underway, rather than reacting to surprises once the framing is already in.
What outdoor structures do you build in Portland?
We build decks and the outdoor structures that surround them, and most projects combine a few of these into one coordinated outdoor living space. New deck construction is the core of what we do here, whether you are adding a deck where there was only a back door before, or replacing an aging deck that has weathered past the point of repair. We plan the layout around how you actually use the yard, the way you would want a room planned around how you live, so the deck fits your entertaining, your grill, and your view rather than a generic rectangle stamped onto the back of the house.
Deck replacement is one of our most requested outdoor scopes. When an older deck has softened, loosened, or simply aged out, we remove it carefully and rebuild with materials chosen for the climate and for the way you want the finished space to look and feel. Beyond the deck platform itself, we build the outdoor structures that make a deck usable in Oregon: railings, stairs, built-in benches and seating, privacy screening, and covered or shaded areas that let you use the space through more of the year than a bare, open deck allows. Because a single accountable team owns the whole scope, you are not left coordinating separate crews who have never worked together.
Finish detail is where an outdoor structure stops looking builder-basic and starts looking finished. Clean railing lines, well-set stairs, tidy transitions where the deck meets the house, and careful trim are the details that separate a quality build from a quick one. Our crews treat that finish work as its own craft, not an afterthought rushed at the end of the job, and it shows in the corners and the connections.
What is included in a Portland deck project?
A deck project includes the coordinated layout, structure, and finish of the whole outdoor space, sequenced so each stage sets the stage for the next. In practice, that starts with protecting the surrounding yard and home, then removing any existing deck carefully rather than tearing it out and hoping for the best. Once the site is clear, we set the structure, frame the platform, and build up the deck surface, then add the railings, stairs, and any built-in features in your approved scope.
The final stretch is finish and detail work, followed by a walkthrough where we close out every remaining item on the punch list before we call the job done. Everything in that sequence is written into your scope in advance, so there is no ambiguity about what the project covers. Portland yards range from tight eastside lots to sloped and wooded properties out in the metro, and each site brings its own conditions to plan around. A fixed-price contract does not pretend those site conditions never surprise anyone. It commits us to identifying as much as possible up front, and to pricing anything genuinely unforeseen openly with you rather than burying it.
How does the Pinnacle Promise apply to a deck build?
The Pinnacle Promise applies to your deck as a written set of commitments in your contract, not a slogan on a wall. Every promise is something you can point to and hold us to. Fixed-price contracts mean your price is set in writing before work starts, with no surprise change orders for the scope you approved. Daily photo updates mean you see progress every construction day, which is easy to appreciate on an outdoor build where the shape of the space changes quickly once framing begins. Clear schedules mean you know the timeline before the first day on site, so you can plan around the days work is happening in your yard.
Vetted crews only means experienced, screened trades on your project, not a rotating cast of unknown subs walking through your property. The completion guarantee means we finish the job and close out every punch-list item at a final walkthrough, rather than disappearing at ninety percent done. And the 3-year workmanship warranty means our work is backed for three years after completion. If something we built is not right, we make it right. Taken together, these are the specific answers to the specific ways outdoor projects go wrong elsewhere, which is exactly why they are written down.
What holds up best on a deck in the Pacific Northwest?
What holds up best on a Portland deck are the materials and details chosen for real outdoor use in a wet climate, not just for a showroom photo. The Pacific Northwest asks a lot of anything left outside: damp winters, long shoulder seasons, and shade that keeps surfaces from drying quickly. Durable decking surfaces and quality fasteners and hardware earn their keep here, and we walk you through the trade-offs in wear, upkeep, and appearance so the choice fits how you actually use the space and how much maintenance you want to take on, rather than how a sample looks under store lighting.
Drainage and detailing deserve real attention on any Northwest deck. Thoughtful spacing, careful flashing where the deck meets the house, and clean transitions help the structure shed water and stay sound through the wet months. We help you make these selections during the planning phase, before they are locked into a fixed-price scope, so the finishes you choose are ones you can live with and afford to maintain, without any pressure and without any surprise costs appearing later.
Do you build decks outside Portland?
Yes. We build decks and outdoor structures across the Portland metro, and we come to you. Beyond Portland itself, we regularly serve Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Tigard, West Linn, Happy Valley, Clackamas, and Oregon City. The fixed-price process, the daily updates, and the 3-year workmanship warranty are the same wherever you are in our service area. If you want detail specific to your city, review our service area below, or reach out and we will walk your space in person.

Compare Your Materials
Decking materials in a wet Pacific Northwest climate
Western Oregon gives a deck a long wet season and a short dry one, so the material choice matters more here than it does in a dry climate. This compares how the common options behave, not what they cost.
Common decking materials compared for a Portland metro deck
| Material | Maintenance | How it weathers here | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pressure-treated softwood | Clean and re-seal on a regular cycle | Can cup, check and split as it goes through wet and dry cycles | Framing on nearly every deck, and budget-driven deck surfaces |
| Western red cedar | Clean and re-seal, or let it go silver | Naturally more decay-resistant than untreated softwood, still moves with moisture | Surfaces and railings where a real wood look matters |
| Capped composite | Wash it, no sealing | Does not rot, split or take on water through the cap; colour holds | Surfaces on decks the owner does not want to maintain |
| Aluminium and steel framing | None to speak of | Does not rot or warp under a wet deck surface | Framing on roof decks and elevated structures |
| Hidden fasteners | None | Keeps water out of the screw holes on the walking surface | Composite and cedar surfaces |
Materials
Decking materials we build in
We build in pressure-treated lumber, cedar, composite and hardwoods. Pressure-treated is the workhorse and the cost-effective choice for most Portland decks. Cedar is a step up in appearance and natural resistance.
Composite decking, meaning products like Trex, TimberTech and Fiberon, is the low-maintenance choice if you would rather not think about sealing every two years. We walk the options with you at the estimate and price the one you pick into the written scope.

Questions
Portland deck building FAQs
Is my Portland deck build really a fixed price?
Yes. The price for your agreed scope is set in writing before work begins, so you are not exposed to surprise change orders for the work you signed off on. If you choose to change the scope during the project, we price it clearly and get your approval before proceeding.
Are you licensed and insured to build decks in Oregon?
Yes. Pinnacle NW LLC holds Oregon CCB #258040 and is bonded and insured.
How long does a Portland deck project take?
Timelines depend on the scope, from a focused deck replacement to a larger outdoor living space with railings, stairs, and built-in features. You receive a clear schedule before the first day on site, and daily photo updates during construction so you can follow progress. We share a realistic timeline for your specific project during the estimate, rather than a one-size number.
Can you build a deck that stands up to Portland weather?
Yes. We plan every deck for the Pacific Northwest climate, choosing durable surfaces, quality hardware, and careful detailing so the structure sheds water and holds up through wet winters. We walk you through the material trade-offs during planning so the choices fit how you use the space and the upkeep you want to take on.
Do you handle railings, stairs, and built-in features on Portland metro decks too?
Yes. The deck platform, railings, stairs, and any built-in seating or screening are coordinated under one accountable contract, so you are not managing separate crews who have never worked together. One team owns the sequence from removal to final walkthrough.
Our Service Radius
Where we work from, and how far that reaches
Our shop is on SE Blanton Street in the Oak Grove area of Clackamas County, on Oregon 99E, the road most people here call McLoughlin Boulevard. Wikipedia puts that stretch about eight miles north of downtown Portland and about four miles south of Oregon City, and those two directions are most of our week.
South and east on 99E and I-205 covers Gladstone, Oregon City, West Linn and Happy Valley, with Oregon 224 running out to Clackamas where it becomes the Sunrise Expressway. North on 99E puts us in Portland where it becomes the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Grand Avenue couplet. West over I-205 and I-5 reaches Lake Oswego on Oregon 43, then Tualatin where I-5 and I-205 meet, and up Oregon 217 to Tigard and Beaverton at the U.S. 26 interchange. U.S. 26 carries us out to Cedar Mill and Bethany. Across the Columbia we take either the Interstate Bridge on I-5 or the Glenn L. Jackson Memorial Bridge on I-205 into Clark County.
We come to you for the estimate anywhere in that radius. If your town is not on our service area page, call and ask, because the list is shorter than the map.
